70 Years of Chasing Around

Tom and Jerry are celebrating their 70 years of togetherness today. The journey has been full of up and downs, pie shots to the face and broken teeth. The pairing of the two mortal enemies by William Henna and Joseph Barbera, became a hit with the young and the old.

The shorts were usually centred on Tom’s various attempts to catch Jerry, who escaped every time. Comedy was created out of the mayhem that followed.  But sometimes they showed care for each other and paired together for a common purpose.

The slapstick comedy made it popular in non English speaking countries as well.

Tom: The bluish grey cat who lives a pampered life till Jerry comes onscreen to make life hell for him. He has a never say die attitude and despite a number of failures still sets the next trap with the same enthusiasm as the first one. But on some occasions he has been the victor

Jerry: One of the few mouse’s in the world to claim that he did manage to “bell the cat”.  He is a brown coloured rodent who takes every opportunity to tease Tom. He uses his wit and brains to escape from serious situations

The duo has been entertaining us since 7 decades now. Wishing them a long life and much more years of togetherness.

Thanks. True, I am a toon buff to some extent, though I am not a big fan of the newer variety of animated shows. And yeah, after a long time, hope to see you regularly once again. :)
